SMC³ Launches New Educational Seminar: The Critical Path to RFP Success
Presenting the five critical steps for a successful freight transportation bidATLANTA—February 25, 2010—SMC³, a transportation industry association and technology provider promoting informed decision making and collaboration between shippers, carriers and logistics service professionals, announced today that it is launching an all-new educational seminar for those tasked with reducing their company’s transportation spend. The seminar, entitled, “The Critical Path to RFP Success,” is being held for the first time on April 14 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Atlanta.
“No other process touches as many business partners or is as integral to the supply chain as the RFP process—yet it offers the greatest opportunity for improvement in service and value,” said John C. Rader, director of SMC³’s Industry & Educational Services (I&ES) group.
By attending the seminar, logistics and supply chain professionals will learn the five critical steps involved in planning and executing a successful freight transportation bid. Over the course of the day attendees will learn best practices for aligning their supply chain and transportation goals with their company’s business plan; optimizing their overall transportation expenditure; saving time with RFP process streamlining; and reducing labor costs through time saving tools. Attendees will also learn how to prepare a comprehensive RFP document and explore effective negotiating and execution strategies.
SMC³ conducts educational seminars throughout the year in addition to its two annual conferences. These seminars offer specific training on industry-related issues such as contract law, shipment costing and transportation procurement, as well as the development of professional skills that enhance both business and technical expertise. The five critical steps in SMC³’s new RFP seminar are based on market research that identified the areas in the process generating the most waste. After defining these core issues, SMC³ joined forces with Unyson Logistics to create a seminar that will streamline any RFP process.
The Critical Path to RFP Success seminar assists leaders tasked with reducing their company’s transportation spend, pricing and procurement staff, and individuals involved in bid administration, as well as anyone with a need to improve their company’s RFP process. “Those involved in any of the processes of conducting a bid will benefit from taking an in-depth look at the major components and requirements,” Rader added.
Online information and registration for the SMC³ Critical Path to RFP Success seminar is available at www.smc3.com/seminars/RFP. Earlybird registration pricing is in effect through Wednesday, March 24.
