SMC³ to Present Contract Law Seminar
Popular Seminar Gives Transportation Professionals
Comprehensive Training in Contractual Elements

Peachtree City, GA - April 16, 2004—SMC³, a leading nationwide provider of Technology Tools for Transportation®, today announced that its 2004 Contract Law Seminar will take place May 11 at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel in Atlanta. This seminar will be beneficial for anyone involved in preparing or executing transportation-related contracts.

The seminar will feature transportation law expert John Bagileo, principal, The Law Firm of John R. Bagileo, who has been practicing transportation law for more than 30 years, representing the interests of both carriers and shippers in regulatory matters. Bagileo has represented clients in rulemaking proceedings and litigation disputes on regulatory issues, contracts, sale and merger transactions, licensing, safety and legislative enactments that have changed the face of transportation regulation.

SMC³ sponsors the seminar to educate its members and other transportation professionals on the fundamentals, terminology and latest regulations affecting contracts. This year’s Contract Law Seminar presentations include a discussion on post-September Sept. 11 contractual clauses, which will address matters that are not typically considered in commercial contracts, but are now required because of regulatory requirements and the economic environment. Elements of a comprehensive request-for-proposal (RFP) and common errors in carrier bid responses will also be discussed. Additional topics include must-have contract clauses; critical terms in broker, shipper and carrier contracts; intermodal transportation agreements and new case law.

“John Bagileo's ability to clearly present and explain legal matters keeps the seasoned veteran abreast of industry trends and current perspectives while providing the novice with a well-rounded examination of contract requirements,” Steve Javins, Contract Administrator, Estes Express Lines in Richmond, Va., said.

The registration fee is $275-375, based upon SMC³ membership status and the number of people attending from the same firm. For more information about the seminar and to register, visit www.smc3.com or call 800-845-8090, ext. 5878.
