SMC³ "TransSupport" Fund Raises More Than $80,000 for Katrina Relief
Company collects donations from transportation industry professionals nationwide
Peachtree City, Ga. - Oct. 3, 2005 - Transportation industry association and technology provider SMC³ has collected more than $80,000 to date for its “TransSupport” fund, established in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Designed to show solidarity of support from the transportation industry, the fund has established a way for donations to be sent en masse to the American Red Cross.
“Although I’m not surprised by the financial response the TransSupport fund has generated, I have really been touched by the outpouring of care and compassion we have when our neighbors need our help,” commented Jack E. Middleton, SMC³’s president and CEO.
Along with individual donations from SMC³ staff and a $10,000 donation from SMC³, the TransSupport fund collected hundreds of outside donations. These corporate and individual contributions came from the company’s nationwide system of transportation industry contacts as well as members of its local community of Fayette County, Ga.
SMC³ will continue to accept individual and corporate donations to the TransSupport fund through the end of the year. All donations received will be sent in bulk directly to the American Red Cross on a regular basis. To donate, checks made payable to the American Red Cross should be mailed to the TransSupport Fund, c/o SMC³, 500 Westpark Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
