SMC³’s Fall Seminar Focuses on Increasing LTL Performance Through Operational Analysis, Practices and Technology
Peachtree City, Ga. - June 29, 2006—The SMC³ Fall Seminar will examine how less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carriers have adapted to the demands of a competitive marketplace and global trade. Through both classroom and field trip experiences, attendees will explore the fundamentals of LTL operating practices, rate structures and transportation pricing dynamics. In addition, the seminar focuses on the role of technology in exchanging vital information between supply chain business partners.
The Fall Seminar will take place Sept. 13-14 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Atlanta. This seminar will be beneficial for individuals involved in preparing, executing and managing LTL transportation relationships.
“Successfully managing LTL transportation requires an understanding of core concepts and how to use them effectively throughout the business strategy. Attendees will return to their companies with an increased understanding of how to improve supply chain performance and reduce costs,” said seminar presenter Danny Slaton, senior vice president, business development, SMC³.
Sessions focus on the background and history of the LTL motor carrier industry, how supply chain directions affect LTL shipping strategies, and the use of technology in supply chain planning and modeling. In addition, attendees will participate in a site visit to a leading national carrier’s cross-dock terminal to see how a shipment moves through an LTL terminal network from pick-up through delivery.
