SMC³ Summer Conference to Focus on Infrastructure Expansion

Peachtree City, Ga. - April 16, 2007—Attendees at the SMC³ 2007 Summer Conference will investigate creative, innovative solutions to revitalize the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The conference is scheduled to take place June 20- 22 at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The conference, “Chain Reaction: Expanding the Transportation Infrastructure,” will explore collaborative methods for shippers, carriers and supply chain partners to influence transportation policy.

Featured sessions will delve into factors influencing the next transportation appropriations bill, examine legislative processes at the local, state and federal level, and provide attendees with ways to participate in coalitions among their supply chain partners. An additional featured session will present the pros and cons of various infrastructure funding methods and how these methods will affect both buyers and sellers of transportation services.

Other session topics include an in-depth look at rail, road and port congestion and proposed methods for improving freight flow. A special luncheon session will examine the fundamentals influencing today’s short- and long-term interest rates and how they impact business and investment portfolios.

SMC³’s geopolitical update speakers will detail the most current economic trends, energy costs, political factors and legislative enactments that affect the transportation industry. Speakers include transportation attorney John R. Bagileo, principal, The Law Office of John R. Bagileo; Michael J. Economides, professor, Cullen College of Engineering, University of Houston; and economic forecaster Donald Ratajczak.
