SMC³ Sees Strong Advanced Registration Numbers for its Upcoming “Jump Start” Conference
Logistics and supply chain professionals show interest in advanced learning and peer networking
ATLANTA—December 16, 2009—SMC³, a transportation industry association and technology provider promoting informed decision making and collaboration between shippers, carriers and logistics service professionals, announced today that it is seeing strong advanced registration numbers for its upcoming 2010 Winter Conference. The conference, entitled, “2010 Jump Start: Supply Chain’s Look Ahead,” is scheduled to take place Jan. 19-20 at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel in Atlanta, and will feature numerous opportunities for updating, educating and connecting transportation, logistics and supply chain professionals.
Although the conference officially begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the majority of registrants have indicated they will come early for the Monday afternoon pre-conference bonus sessions as well as the Monday evening business networking event. According to John Rader, SMC³ Director of Industry and Educational Services, attendees are “appreciative of any additional opportunities for detailed business insights and relationship-building professional exchanges.”
The two concurrent Monday afternoon bonus sessions are offered at no additional cost to registered conference attendees. Those responsible for business demand forecasting and budgeting will benefit from the “Economic Indices as a Forecasting Tool” session, which will provide a hands-on demonstration of how freely available online information can be leveraged for economically savvy business decisions. Supply chain professionals who are involved or exploring opportunities in intermodal shipping will want to attend the “Dimensional Technology and Pricing” session. This SMC³ Winter Conference exclusive will present an educational viewpoint of the latest trends and technologies for dimensional-based shipment rating, and will include a guided tour of the Conley, Ga. Old Dominion Freight Lines terminal facility.
The SMC³ 2010 Winter Conference boasts educational sessions that are specifically designed to deliver actionable learning outcomes from an array of subject matter experts. A featured supply chain greening panel will focus on how business leaders have lessened their organizational carbon footprint to green their supply chain and their bottom line. SMC³ has also assembled an all-star lineup of industry association executives to discuss perspectives and positions on the biggest issues supply chain professionals are facing today.
Timely business updates are a hallmark of SMC³ conferences, and the 2010 Winter Conference will be no different. Featured industry speaker G. Tommy Hodges, chairperson of the American Trucking Associations (ATA), will present the “Washington view” on labor, energy and greening, as well as how to become an active advocate. SMC³ educational partners John R. Bagileo, Esq., Donald Ratajczak, Ph.D., and Larry Sabato will also be on hand to give updates on key business influencers such as the global economy, industry financials and U.S. politics.
“The industry, economic and geopolitical update discussions bring current issues to the forefront,” commented Rader. “As a result, SMC³ conference attendees leave with valuable information to develop a clear action plan for the coming business cycles.”
SMC³’s business connectivity reaches thought leaders across the transportation industry. Each conference brings representatives from the shipping, logistics, transport, technology and legal/government communities together to share the latest trends and ideas. Several SMC³ technology partners are sponsors of the SMC³ 2010 Winter Conference, including ALK Technologies, Inc.; Carrier Logistics, Inc.; Dan Goodwill and Associates, Inc.; Descartes Systems Group, Inc.; ROADVision, by Computac, Inc.; SCML Logistics Consulting LLC; and Transportation Costing Group, Inc.
“When I am in a room with my peers, some I have known for years and some I am getting to know for the first time, I realize how amazing it is to work in an industry where all the players—shippers, carriers, 3PLs, consultants, etc. —can come together and share their unique knowledge and perspective,” said Jack E. Middleton, President and CEO, SMC³. Online information and registration for the SMC³ 2010 Winter Conference is available at www.smc3conference.com.
