TSMA Communication Awards Competition Winners Honored in Phoenix
Competition Recognizes Best Transportation Industry Sales and Marketing Strategies
Phoenix – March 30, 2004 - The Transportation Sales & Marketing Association (TSMA) today announced the winners of its 2004 Communication Awards Competition at a special awards luncheon during its Annual Conference. The annual competition recognizes transportation service providers and firms offering products or services to the transportation industry for excellence in their advertising and marketing programs.
“The top providers and firms were selected for their ability to apply innovation and creativity to achieve maximum results,” Chris Reinhart, Communication Awards Chairperson and Executive Vice President, Oliver Trucking Company, said.
The Communication Awards Competition is an opportunity for companies to put their best work of the year up against similar firms from the United States and Canada. A panel of advertisers, artists, designers and other marketing professionals provides written evaluations critiquing each entry. Entrants use this information to help them develop future marketing strategies and advertising pieces.
“I was very impressed with the overall quality of the marketing pieces and their applications and relevance to the transportation industry,” said judge Martin Harmon, public relations director, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.
Judging for the competition was based on how well the entry met the stated objective of its category, its results and its overall effectiveness in its category. Categories in this year’s competition included audiovisual, print advertising, public relations, sales literature, specialty items, calendars, Web site and overall campaign. To ensure a fair and relevant competition, entries were compared with entries from companies of similar size and resources. The two revenue divisions were “A” for annual revenue below $75 million and “B” for annual revenue of more than $75 million. If fewer than four entries were received for a revenue division in a category, then the entries were combined and judged as a single revenue division.
Winners by category were:
In addition, TSMA conference attendees selected a “Best in Show” winner. Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. received this award for its box characters and truck in the specialty items category.
Entries in each category were recognized and the winning entrants honored for their achievements at the Communication Awards Luncheon during the 2004 TSMA Annual Conference at The Wigwam Resort and Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
