SMC³ Holds its Fourth Annual “Varsity Day”
Fayette Community Business Leaders Celebrate SMC³’s Presence in Peachtree City
Peachtree City, GA - May 29, 2003 - SMC³, a leading provider of Technology Tools for Transportation®, marked its fourth year in its Peachtree City office with “Varsity Day” on Thursday, May 15.
The foundation of SMC³’s Varsity Day is the Varsity catering truck that arrives on site around lunchtime and serves up what the Atlanta-area landmark is famous for: chili dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings, peach pies and more. Mayfield® Ice Cream is also on hand to serve the ice cream lovers.
“Varsity Day has become an annual tradition for employees and friends of SMC³ here in the Fayette community,” said Jack E. Middleton, president and CEO of SMC³. “It’s a time for us to enjoy good food and fellowship with local folks who make our location here in Peachtree City both fun and rewarding.”
Approximately 280 people attended this year’s Varsity Day. Attendees included Fayette community business leaders, friends of SMC³ and SMC³ employees and family members. Special guests included Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown, who addressed the crowd briefly to welcome attendees and cite SMC³’s many contributions to the community. The mayor stressed that SMC³ sponsors many community organizations, including the Frederick Brown Amphitheater and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.
SMC³ is well known for its CzarLite™ base pricing system, which is the foundation for thousands of less-than-truckload (LTL) contracts that annually account for over $9 billion in managed transportation. Other SMC³ products and services include benchmarking products, service and routing applications, rating engines, LTL pricing modules, developer tools, software APIs, and classification and packaging software.
