SMC³'s CarrierWorks product is technology that works within a Web-enabled transportation management system (TMS) developed with MercuryGate International, Inc. (Apex, NC). The technology allows motor carriers to interactively manage shipment status with their external shipper base through an open, flexible Internet architecture.

Old Dominion Freight Lines (Thomasville, NC) is in the process of implementing the CarrierWorks technology, which will give their customers complete supply chain management capabilities and provide the ability to proactively monitor the progress of their shipments from purchase order creation through final delivery. Services include managing carrier contracts, rate quotations, freight bill audits, and paperless invoicing and payments.
