SMC³ and J.D. Edwards Drive Transportation Rating and Routing to A New Level
Peachtree City, GA – February 14, 2000 – Transportation data software and services provider SMC³ and enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards today announced a strategic business partnership that incorporates SMC³'s Czar rating engine with J.D. Edwards' OneWorld™ ERP transportation solution. This product combination provides the transportation industry with an LTL carrier rating solution that helps end users effectively manage their transportation requirements.

By coupling the Czar rating engine with OneWorld, users have instant access to vital transportation information. Rather than downloading an ASCII file, users can select specific Czar modules to obtain carrier rates. These files are easily loaded and users are up and running in a matter of seconds.
SMC³'s Czar rating engine is a flexible system for transportation price management, consisting of a library of over 1,200 pricing modules and program interfaces. Logic in the Czar engine controls the management of multiple data modules. These modules include bureau rates, individual carrier tariffs, base rates used by major shippers and third parties, Czar-Lite™, Canada-Lite™, intra Canadian rates, ZIP code service files for selected carriers, ZIP code miles and custom modules. With Czar-Lite, a component of Czar, customers have the option to use this base rate for obtaining market base tariffs.

J.D. Edwards' OneWorld is the first network-centric solution that separates business rules from the underlying technology. OneWorld allows users to add evolving technologies to the framework so as to not disrupt ongoing business while capitalizing on new functionality. OneWorld integrates with a company's supply chain, using the Internet and the organization's intranet to manage a company's employees, customers, and suppliers. Because of OneWorld's interoperability, customers can leverage their existing hardware and software investments to integrate with other third-party products, like SMC³'s Czar rating engine.
