SMC³ Announces Director of Industry and Educational Services and Executive Director of the Sales & Marketing Council
John Rader Joins at a Time of Strong Growth in SMC³'s Business

Peachtree City, GA – April 10, 2000 – Strengthening its role as the leader in transportation pricing, data and technology, SMC³ today announced the appointment of John Rader as director of industry and educational services. Effective immediately, Rader will oversee SMC³'s educational outreach programs and educational forums as well as SMC³'s newly established alliance with the Sales & Marketing Council.

In making the announcement, Jack Middleton, president and CEO of SMC³, said, "John Rader joins the SMC³ team at an integral point in the company's evolution and at a time of strong growth in the marketplace. We are pleased to have John aboard. His experience and knowledge complements SMC³'s management team and its role as the leader in transportation pricing, data and technology."

Not a newcomer to the industry, Rader has management experience in both the carrier and shipper segments of the industry, and he possesses a strong background and qualifications in logistics in the retail and manufacturing industries. He has a broad understanding of the motor carrier industry's direction and needs and has served as a member and director of several industry organizations.

Rader's SMC³ responsibilities are twofold. As director of industry & education services, he will address SMC³'s educational outreach programs, annual educational platforms, and user group forums. He will be responsible for organizing SMC³'s educational events, content and participation as well as assist in the marketing and design for each event. Rader's experience in the motor carrier industry combined with his knowledge of sales and marketing will enhance SMC³'s presence in the marketplace.

Rader will also hold the position of executive director of the Sales & Marketing Council (S&MC), formerly aligned with the American Trucking Association. SMC³ and S&MC recently formed a strategic alliance in which SMC³ will oversee the S&MC's business activities. In this newly created role, Rader's targeted responsibility and focus will be to increase the S&MC's membership and annual conferences participation as well enhance the forum's educational content. Rader's strong knowledge of the industry and the needs of the council's members will allow SMC³ to take the Sales & Marketing Council to the next level.

"I am very fortunate to be a part of the SMC³ team, especially at this time of expansion for the company and industry," stated John Rader. "SMC³ is recognized as the industry's leading information services provider. SMC³'s strong foundation positions the organization for exceptional business growth
