With SMC³’s CarrierConnect COM technology, you can build a custom carrier selection system or an integrated component that runs alongside RateWare to access the CarrierConnect data and return points of service, transit times and detailed service guide information. The product includes both detailed transit data for carriers and the technology to use the data and interface it to your supply chain applications.
The data in CarrierConnect includes more than 155 top carriers and allows SMC³ to provide you with the latest points of service and transit times for national, multi-regional and regional carriers. Data updates can be downloaded right here at smc3.com on a monthly basis, guaranteeing you the most up-to-date and accurate information.
SMC³ will also work directly with those carriers who are not part of the system to develop their data. SMC³ receives the data in-house, imports it into the system and runs an error check to determine if there are any inconsistencies with the data. If errors exist, they are corrected and then added to the CarrierConnect database.
The technology of CarrierConnect COM is a Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) that gives software developers the power and flexibility they need to manage shipment transit times and the carrier selection process. Component Object Models enable programmers to develop objects that can be accessed by any COM-compliant application. Both OLE and ActiveX are based on COM.
The CarrierConnect COM object places vital and time-critical information at your fingertips. It generates a better return through increased productivity, easier access to information and improved communication with customers.
The CarrierConnect COM object is extremely small, fast and efficient and is designed to operate on 32-bit Windows platforms running on Intel processors. The design is fully self-contained, which technically means that the target machine does not require any additional files or DLLs to register and work. From a non-technical viewpoint, this means that the system can easily integrate with your existing programs using simple techniques and minimal time requirements.
