CarrierConnect Desktop Edition combines the operational capabilities, points of service, transit times and detailed contact information from your carriers into one easy-to-use system and places that information at your fingertips, so you don’t have to spend time searching multiple carriers’ Web sites or hanging on to hardcopy carrier directories and publications.
SMC³ maintains more than 150 separate data files that represent the industry’s leading carriers operating on a national, interregional and regional basis. This comprehensive database provides pertinent information on city, state, ZIP and postal codes, key contacts, office locations, terminal listings, mileages, service times between points, and additional details provided by the carriers and other transportation industry data sources. SMC³ ensures that you have the latest information from each participating carrier by giving you easy access to our monthly data updates right here on our Web site.
CarrierConnect Desktop Edition is a software system designed for quick and easy access to participating carrier information from your desktop. The cornerstone of the system is the carrier service and transit engine, which incorporates custom settings that allow you to create a unique information structure that meets the requirements of your business. These settings include the ability to establish and maintain very detailed carrier geographic routing files containing city names, ZIP codes and postal codes for the U.S. and Canada.
After the routing files are established in the system, additional features enable you to correctly identify your supply chain shipment sources and delivery points, as well as the transit times between them. Further refinement of the routing logic allows you to assign preference codes to carriers and then rank available carriers by what is most important to your supply chain.
Features such as the mileage guide and planning calendar enable you to quickly and accurately route shipments to meet critical dates. Service maps provide a snapshot of a carrier’s transit times and terminal locations while the U.S.-to-metric and density calculators quickly calculate shipment characteristics.
The CarrierConnect database and carrier selection logic are also available through a Microsoft COM object, for software developers who want to integrate the data and logic into their supply chain applications. For SMC³ customers using the RateWare Server or RateWare COM products, the CarrierConnect COM product can be installed and combined with RateWare to provide seamless integration of LTL pricing and service/transit time information.
