Inaugural SMC³ Loss Prevention Conference is a Big Hit with Claims Professionals
On October 20, 2008, SMC³ opened their inaugural three-day Loss Prevention Conference. The conference was held in Atlanta at the Hilton Atlanta Airport Hotel. SMC³ developed this latest addition to their menu of conferences and seminars to provide high-quality educational content on freight loss and damage prevention for the transportation industry.
“SMC³ is building upon the foundation of education and networking that the LPC association established,” said John Rader, director of industry and educational services for SMC³. “Anyone involved in loss prevention, whether they represent a carrier, shipper or 3PL, will stand to benefit.”
The Loss Prevention Conference’s agenda offered educational sessions designed to help attendees develop strategies, techniques and best practices for preventing and resolving the claims issues which affect them the most. Previous members of the LPC board of directors worked with SMC³ in an advisory capacity to ensure that the SMC³ offering continues to be the industry’s premier loss prevention education event.
The topics covered at the conference were wide-ranging: concealed damages, drop trailer liability, processing cargo claims, a released rate update, understanding recoverable damages, and OS&D. Sessions also included a Claims Liability Workshop and a Claims Legal Update.
The Loss Prevention Conference featured several interactive small group discussions and Q&A sessions on specific techniques for identifying workable prevention solutions and implementing an effective preventative program. As an added benefit to attendees, SMC³ partnered with the Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Council (CCPAC) to offer the CCP Primer Course prior to the conference and the CCP Exam immediately following the conference. In addition, all Loss Prevention Conference attendees were eligible to receive 13.25 CCPAC credits.
The 2009 Loss Prevention Conference will be October 19-21 in Atlanta. More info coming soon!
