Keynote speaker Mike Durant, chief warrant officer (4th class) – retired, is a master aviator who has clocked a total of 3,700 flight hours with over 1,400 under Night Vision Goggles. A highly decorated soldier, his story is the inspiration behind the best-selling book and Academy Award-winning film Black Hawk Down. He is also the author of The New York Times best-seller In the Company of Heroes. Today, Durant is a programs manager for Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions, based in Huntsville, Alabama. An inspirational speaker, he illustrates the power of teamwork, leadership, and change through awe-inspiring stories and captivating visuals.


John R. Bagileo has been practicing transportation law for more than 40 years, representing the interests of both carriers and shippers in regulatory matters. With over 25 years of experience in sales and marketing, Beil has driven significant change across the marketing discipline, resulting in improved overall business performance and enhanced promotion of international business. Donald J. Bowersox, Ph.D., is a university distinguished professor and dean emeritus of The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University. Dr Bowersox retired from full-time teaching after forty years at MSU. He currently teaches executive education at the Broad School. During his career, he has served as an air force pilot and in various business and Board capacities. He has lectured and taught in over twenty nations and was a co-author of the first logistics textbook, published in 1961. His most recent book, co-authored with Nick LaHowchic and entitled, Start Pushing Your Chain! Leading Responsive Supply Chain Transformation, will be published this month.

John Brockwell is the global supply chain management practice leader for JP Morgan Trade Management Consulting, where his focus is on finding opportunities for businesses to optimize their international trade by improving costs, cycle times and quality and by minimizing risks. He has an extensive background in global trade business and process evaluation, logistics planning, and decision support systems. Brockwell created several innovative decision support tools for logistics planning in his 15-year tenure at IBM, including one project which received a U.S. Patent and an IBM Invention Award.

Michael J. Economides, Ph.D., is one of the most instantly recognizable names in the petroleum and chemical engineering professions, as well as the energy industry. He is a professor at the Cullen College of Engineering, University of Houston, where he teaches and conducts research. Previously, he was the Samuel R. Noble professor of petroleum engineering at Texas A&M University and served as chief scientist of the Global Petroleum Research Institute (GPRI). Economides has authored and co-authored numerous publications, including the best-selling book, The Color Of Oil.

Ross E. Eisenberg is environmental and energy counsel for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  He is responsible for promoting the Chamber’s environmental and energy policies in legislative, regulatory and other contexts. He is also committee executive for the Chamber’s Environment & Energy Committee. Prior to joining the Chamber, Eisenberg spent five years as an environmental, energy and insurance coverage attorney in the Washington, DC office of Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he represented large and small companies on a wide range of environmental and energy matters.

Alan Gayle, is senior investment strategist and director of asset allocation for Trusco Capital Management, SunTrust’s $70 billion institutional money management subsidiary. Gayle has been with the Trusco/SunTrust organization for over 30 years. He has testified before Congress on economic and regulatory issues affecting the banking industry. He is also a member of the Blue Chip Financial Forecast panel, and is regularly quoted in the financial press, radio and TV. Gayle received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in 1976 and his MA in Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1981.

Michael McAdams, executive director government and public affairs for Hart Energy Publishing, has spent his career in Washington DC, both in government and industry, focused on energy and environmental policy. He directs governmental advocacy efforts for Hart Energy clients in both the legislative and regulatory arena. Having spent 14 years with BP Oil, as vice president federal affairs and the environment, he has been involved in every major federal energy and environmental effort over the last twenty years. He also served on the staff of several members of Congress including the current Chairman of the House Subcommitee on Energy and Air Policy, Ralph Hall.

Luke Ritter is principal, global trade security for Ridge Global, LLC, a strategic consulting firm that advances the security and economic interests of businesses and governments worldwide. He left active military duty behind in the 1990s to pursue a private sector transportation career. Ritter is board certified by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) and holds a seat on the Transportation Security Council of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). Bob Rosenbaum is publishing director of the American Machinist/Welding Group at Penton Media. He joined Penton in 1999 as the founding editor for Supply Chain Technology News and was promoted to publisher in 2001. Rosenbaum also has served as associate publisher for Penton’s Logistics Today. Magazine Business Resources, and editor/publisher for PRTM Consulting’s Insight Magazine. Shister is the author of The Ten Minute Guide to Negotiation, which ranks among Amazon’s Top 50 titles in business negotiation and has been translated into German and Japanese.


Dan Singer is the vice president of supply chain solutions for Averitt Express, Inc. He has worked in the transportation industry for twenty years. Singer started his career with Chrysler Motors, where he was responsible for analyzing and implementing just-in-time transportation programs.  He then worked for Ryder Logistics where he was responsible for the comprehensive management of transportation services for a number of Fortune 500 companies.  Since joining Averitt, Singer’s responsibilities have included logistics technology sourcing and implementation, and dedicated customer fleet and facility operations.

Chelsea C. White III, Ph.D., is the school chair of the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he is also the director of the Trucking Industry Program (TIP) and the former executive director of The Logistics Institute. White’s most recent research includes analyzing the role of real-time information and enabling information technology for improved logistics and, more generally, supply chain productivity and risk mitigation, with special focus on the U.S. trucking industry. White is graduate from the University of Michigan (UM) in Computer, Information and Control Engineering.
