Position Summary

THIS POSITION CAN BE ONSITE, REMOTE, OR HYBRID
We are seeking an AI Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join our Data Science team. This role focuses on translating advanced analytics, machine learning models, and AI solutions into production-ready data products that enhance SMC3 offerings, such as RateWare Plus, Bid$ense, and LTL APIs. You will work closely with data scientists to move ideas from prototype to production, with a strong emphasis on LLMs, agents, and intelligent systems.

Essential Functions

• Partner with data scientists to transform models and AI solutions into scalable, production-ready systems.
• Create intelligent agents and models to support contract understanding, bid and pricing intelligence, and LTL shipment lifecycle management.
• Develop AI capabilities to enhance core products and APIs in partnership with product and engineering teams.
• Prepare and manage data pipelines from sources such as MongoDB and MariaDB.
• Evaluate model performance to ensure quality output. Implement model and prompt versioning, reproducibility practices, and evaluation workflows at the model layer.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to support deployment with need.
• Deliver models through APIs and services using Python based frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in machine learning, AI, or related engineering roles.
• Strong Python skills and experience building production-level services.
Experience with the following:
• LLMs, prompt engineering, and agent-based systems
• Machine learning models
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• Cloud environments, such as Azure
• Taking models from prototype to production-ready state
• Solid understanding of data science and software design
• Strong collaboration and communications skills
