SMC³ supply chain prize awarded to shippers, 3PLs and carriers during Jump Start 2020

Werner Logistics and Blume Global are among the winners of the latest Alliance Award, which was presented by Logistics Management, in partnership with SMC³, during the second day of Jump Start 2020, an Atlanta logistics and supply chain conference hosted by SMC³.

The award identifies shippers and service providers that collaborate to overcome critical supply chain challenges. Winners craft innovative solutions to extraordinary issues.

“The competitive advantage that Werner has achieved through its dynamic API-enabled communication strategy underscores the success that we at Blume Global prioritize for all of our customers,” said Pervinder Johar, CEO of Blume Global. “We strive to help create an ethical, purpose-driven supply chain ecosystem and users like Werner are an integral part of making that happen.”

Additional winners include Cerasis, recognized for its partnership with Flexaust, FreightSnap, Motus Logistics, and Texcel Rubber. Averitt Express and Bargain Hunt also partnered for winning collaborations. Finally, the group of Georgia Ports Authority, Averitt Express, CSX Transportation, CMC Logistics and TCW also received an award. The winning case studies will be featured in Logistics Management over the course of 2020.

Throughout Jump Start, attendees heard speakers talk about the year ahead, focusing on potential economic shifts, the changing regulatory environment and the impact of technology on the supply chain. Conference participants also viewed live demonstrations of SMC³’s latest technology enhancements to Bid$ense®, the premier over-the-road transportation RFP tool, and their LTL API solutions. More themes of collaboration and technological disruption will be explored at Connections 2020, which will be held June 15-17 in Boston. As conference chair, Eric Stone, senior manager of domestic sourcing and supplier performance at Johnson & Johnson, offered some practical advice, showing the audience how to create added value in the freight transportation procurement process.

While price is important in freight transportation sourcing events, his team also considers the sustainability programs at their carrier partners, the diversity of those suppliers, and the companies’ commitment to new technology. Finally, Stone is looking for carriers that are interested in long-term partnerships and collaboration.

“It’s part of SMC³’s mission to provide supply chain stakeholders with the educational tools they need to compete in today’s fast-changing industry,” said Andrew Slusher, President and CEO of SMC³. “Jump Start 2020 attendees received a thorough picture of today’s supply chain, the challenges that lie ahead and innovative solutions to pending issues.”
